Epilogue: Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts

The epilogue, I feel, is a good wrap up on this book.  It shows a High School teacher who is using a large amount of technology to teach his high school Journalism class. He arrives at school one morning at 6:50, roughly 45 minutes before his class is scheduled to start.  The reading just shows the different things he is able to accomplish before his students arrive, such as Posting to the class RSS page, or bookmarking a journal on his delicious account.  He submits a blog to his blog post and uploads a new podcast so he can listen to it later when he has time. He completes roughly 10 different forms of technology in the 45 minutes he has of prep time before his students arrive that morning.

This example goes to show that once we are familiar with all these different types of technology it will be simple to use them all in our classroom.  Right now all this new information feels slightly overwhelming to us.  And I even feel that this is going to be very hard to incorporate EVERYTHING into my classroom.  But this example shows that it can be done very simply.  It might take a couple years implementing a new type of technology one by one. Eventually this will just become part of your every day school day.
